As one of the region’s key markets Malaysia was given the honor to host the worldwide debut for the Continental ContiConnect Digital Tire Monitoring Platform – Continental Tire’s pioneering technology to make commercial fleets safer, more efficient and intelligent. The Worldwide debut was held earlier today at the Setia City Convention Center where Continental’s Commercial Tire Vehicles Division unveiled ‘bridging the gap between tire manufacturer and integrated solutions provider aka ContiConnect.
The 147 year old premium tire manufacturer has created a clever and efficient solution for remote tire technology allowing fleet managers to see tire pressure and temperature data for the entire fleet in a single web portal, each and every single time trucks return to the fleet yard. This tech which allows for routine tire maintenance which in turn effectively improves the up-time for the fleet’s vehicle; this in turn gives the fleet maximum efficiency.
What the Continental ContiConnect essentially is, is a remote tire monitoring platform that does away with telematics and over-the-road connection, collecting tire data by using sensors mounted on the inner liner of the tire (protecting the tire from damages incurred from kerbing, theft prevention and also ensuring data collected – tire temperature and pressure, are not affected by heat generated from braking). The data is collected and transmitted via a cellular network soon as the truck returns to the fleet yard, and then are displayed in a web portal.
Continental offers a range of digital tire monitoring systems to fit a fleet’s individual business requirements. There’s also the ContiPressureCheck tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) – a simple to install software which constantly displays real-time tire pressure and temperature to the driver via an in-cab display which also alerts the driver should any issues arises.
The ContiPressureCheck tire monitoring system also provides tire integration capability with multiple telematics providers. Said integration allows tire data to be seen in both the providers’ in-cab displays and back end portals.
