
Up and down, black and white, male and female, wet and dry, fire and water, Metallica and Britney Spears. All of the examples given above could not be anymore different from one another, yet they share certain similarities. Such is the case with the two cars featured in this article. One's black and the other's white, one has a manic, rev happy 1.6 litre screamer while the other has a torque-a-licious, grunty 2 litre powerhouse. Yet they both produce similar power figures; so different yet so alike.
The owners of these two cars have been the best of friends for over 6 years now, both sharing a passion for fast cars, especially Hondas. You may or may not have heard of the infamous Teamrice; a band of maniacal motorheads who like to do nothing but talk about their favourite pastime, fast cars and drag racing. These two cars here are just a couple of examples of how serious Teamrice are about their cars. Just make your way to Restoran Sri Anggerik (aka Carlos) in USJ any night of the week and you can't miss them. Look for a row of mean looking cars and an even longer row of tables. These crazy bastards have been yumcha-ing there almost every night of the week for almost 4 years now. Go figure.
I shall dub both of these cars Ebony and Ivory, for obvious reasons. Ebony is tuned solely by N1 Racing while Ivory is tuned by Links Dyno Tune; both workshops are in Sunway but as a certain few would know, these two garages share a friendly but intense rivalry.
Ebony
Ebony started life as a JDM EK3, equipped with the weaksauce 1.5 litre D15B with an automatic gearbox. Ebony's owner looked through 6 other examples before finally deciding on buying her from Naza Motors. Lucky number 7 indeed. His first mod on the car was a rear disc brake assembly to fool people into thinking it was something better than a weakling EK3. Later, a 3 inch piping (!) install was followed by a full EK4 interior conversion. A year later, things started to get really serious.
